Thereās no doubt about it, Chloe Kim can sing. The 20-year-old Olympic snowboarder stunned The Masked Singerās panelists and fans with her incredible voice. She was revealed as the Jellyfish during the Super Six semi-finals after dazzling performances. HollywoodLife got to speak EXCLUSIVELY with Chloe after the big reveal about whether or not sheāll pursue more singing in the future.
āI would love to,ā Chloe told HollywoodLife. āI mean, I know now that people like my voice, so I wonāt be too shy to put something out. But obviously, with the Olympics and stuff coming up, weāll see what that looks like. But I would love to do it. Itās been so much fun, and I would love to sing more.ā
The Masked Singer filmed over the summer, which ended up being perfect timing for the Olympian, who is training for the 2022 Winter Olympics. āWe get a good summer break in-between seasons, so I shot the show over the summer, and it was perfect,ā Chloe revealed. āI still was able to work out before or after I had to be on set. I got everything I needed to get done and got to have some fun in a jellyfish costume. It was like the perfect month of my life.ā
Chloe admitted that sheās never thought she was a āgood singer,ā but her mom had a hunch when she was just a baby. āMy mom actually thought I was going to be a singing prodigy,ā Chloe told HollywoodLife. āBecause at one time when I was a baby, I was able to hum āTwinkle Twinkle Little Starā the whole thing through. So my mom thought I was going to be a singing prodigy. But that didnāt happen because I didnāt really sing. I just hummed that one thing. I didnāt think I was a good singer. It was just like people saying, wow, you can actually sing. I was like, I donāt know what that means. I just did it as a hobby and just for fun. I taught myself how to play guitar, and I play guitar and like to sing a couple of my favorite songs, but itād be like once in a while.ā
Even though Chloe has performed on the biggest stage in sports, sheās never experienced anything like The Masked Singer before. āWhen it comes to the Olympics, thatās something Iāve trained for my whole life,ā Chloe said. āItās something that I wanted to do, and something that Iāve worked really hard for. I had a lot of people that I knew who experienced it before. But when it comes to performing on a stage, Iāve never had experience at all with that. I was so incredibly nervous. With the Olympics, I kind of knew what to expect, but with this, I had no idea.ā
The Olympian admitted she was āso nervousā when she was on stage. āI was shaking during my first performance,ā she continued. āI was literally trembling. It was actually really sad. I just have never really performed or taken singing seriously at all. Iām new to it, and I didnāt know there are so many things that went into singing until I started getting some coaching. I was very nervous. My heart has never thumped so much before my life. But it was so fun. Iām so happy I did it. No regrets at all.ā The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays on FOX.
