The people most affected by Joe‘s heavy drinking were Teresa (of course), their daughter, Gia, and Teresa’s cousin, Rosie. On the Sept. 5 episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Joe’s looming prison sentence started affecting his behavior dramatically. He turned to alcohol, but that only made things worse.

While out to dinner with her mother, Gia said that it was about time for Joe to go away. Teresa was shocked to hear her say this, but Gia just meant that she thinks he’ll come out a better man in three and a half years. Maybe he will. Maybe he won’t. Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, Rosie went over to Chris Laurita‘s house for a game of poker, but she expected Joe Giudice to show up. And when he didn’t — due to his heavy drinking — she thought maybe it was an excuse for not wanting to see her. It wasn’t, but it still upset her. She wanted to reunite with him and make sure everything was okay between them. Plus, he only has a limited amount of time before he heads to prison, and she wanted to apologize for saying bad things about him on New Year’s Eve.

Luckily, at Teresa’s book launch party, Joe told the guys that he has no beef with Rosie, so he’s not too sure why she got so upset. And that was that. Most of the attention was on Joe’s friend, who also happens to be a felon. Apparently, Joe invited this guy to Teresa’s book launch party, even though she’s not supposed to be around other felons. Even worse, the guy brought his 12-year-old son, but it was an event for people 21 and over. When Joe told his friend about the situation, Chris C. went crazy! He started yelling all these crazy things about how the government and the mob won’t stop him from doing what he wants to do. It was pretty wild, but Joe made it back inside just in time for Teresa to find out her new book placed on the New York Times Best Seller’s List! Good for her. But it’s bittersweet because she knows in just a few weeks, Joe will be going to prison.

In other news, Melissa struggled with juggling her business and getting her kids ready for their daily activities, including a daddy-daughter dance. Siggy also helped Dolores deal with the death of her dog — so sad.
