Okay, so Ari’s trusty ponytail wasn’t completely missing since it did make a cameo towards the end of the video when Ariana was all dressed up at a glam event. But still, her high ponytail definitely took a backseat to her long and loose style.
Adding a soft bend to her long dark locks, Ari’s wind-tousled waves are simple to recreate. Prep hair when it’s dry with a texturizing spray like Not Your Mother’s Double Take Dry Finish Texture Spray, then wrap small sections of your hair around a curling wand, leaving out an inch of hair at the top and bottom for a more effortless effect. Once you’ve curled all of your hair, finish with more texturizing spray for added volume and a bit of hold.
For her makeup, Ari’s makeup artist Daniel Chinchilla gave her a softer look than she usually sports. For her more natural look, Daniel gave Ariana clean skin, some false lashes and neutral shadow to enhance her eyes and a matte nude lip. Those tousled waves seem to be a new video trend for Ariana, who also rocked slightly more defined curls in her “Dangerous Woman” music video, which debuted just a few months back. But if you’re worried she’ll be ditching the ponytail permanently, fear not. At the May 22 Billboard Music Awards, Ari’s ponytail was back in all its glory — and so was her cat eye!
