‘Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Bonnie’s Sad Fate Revealed — Plus, She Faces Damon Again

Plus, everything changes for Stefan and Valerie -- and Caroline? Was Bonnie (Kat Graham) really so hurt by Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) betrayal enough to land in the psych ward? Not so much -- but she was in there. We quickly learn that over the past three years, the armory has been hunting her. But why?

That was what she and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) wanted to know too — so when they found out Alex’s sister Virginia was a patient at a ward, she faked a story to enter to find out. It turns out, they needed her to open a vault; one that could only be opened by a Bennett witch, and that had something inside it that Virginia thought was very dangerous.

However, during her time hiding, the only way to stay off the armory’s radar was by pills made from Rayna’s blood that Enzo had given her; it blocked the locator’s spell but also took away her magic. However, after kidnapping Rayna, she let him know that those pills couldn’t be reversed, only enhanced. And that Bonnie was about to get really sick and die, just like Mary Louis did.

Yes, Bonnie is dying — and right when Enzo tells her and embraces Enzo, Damon returns  finally and apologizes for how he left and basically broke her heart. I’m really hoping this isn’t some love triangle in the making, but she was not happy, and slammed the door in his face.

Damon also spent the episode trying to do two things: save Stefan (Paul Wesley) and get Alaric back as his BFF; only one succeeded. Stefan returned with the help of Valerie, but ultimately she ended things with him since she realized she loved him more than he’d ever love her — and that Caroline (Candice King) is the one he’s in love with. Basically, this is what she said:

So, he’s off the hook and Valerie is pretty much the most mature character ever in the history of the CW. So, will he now go to Dallas and break Alaric’s heart by getting Caroline back? That’s my guess.
