Ky actually teaches in LA and they are in demand. His classes currently have a month long wait list! But even though he’s a hot trainer, who clearly knows how to whip you into shape, we wanted to know a little bit more about the man behind the stars! Check out our five things to know about Ky below! 1. What is his favorite childhood memory? “This is a very hard and raw question for me because I spent my entire childhood being bullied and made to feel that I would never be good enough to do anything with my life. Coming from an immigrant family growing up was really hard. This is why I have dedicated my life to inspiring people with the power of “HOPE” and expressing our one true gift – Our bodies.”
2. Favorite food? “Pepperoni Pizza – all kinds, brands, shapes and sizes! I could eat it every meal of the day.”
3. Celebrity crush? “I don’t have one. Everyone I train is a celebrity. One doesn’t have to be on TV to be a celebrity. Like Shakespeare said, “All the worlds a stage, and all the men and women merely players”. I teach my clients that Life is the only stage, and we are the biggest star! Live life like a close up! There is only one you, so why would you want to be like anyone else?! You are already a STAR!”
4. Best simple exercise to incorporate into your daily life while at work? “PLANK – I live and die by the plank. Everyone knows the physical benefits, but metaphorically I teach plank to show my clients that all the answers you seek are already given, if you could just be brave enough to look inside and fail. Plank forces you to deal with oneself in the mists of failure.”
5. What does he think it means to be ‘strong’? “Strong to me is the ability to truly fail, to own ones vulnerability and not apologize for it, for it is in that vulnerability that Icons are made. Especially now with all the social media trainers, everyone is about look at me, look what I can do. The greatest training I can do is when I sacrifice my own gains for the success of my clients. Don’t compete, create. You have already won. There is only one you, so spend more time expressing you, and less time worrying about what others are doing or what their 1RM is!”
