“Now that Rob has lost a significant amount of weight, at least 50 pounds, his diabetes may be reversed,” Lisa tells HollywoodLife.com. “However, if he gains the weight back, the diabetes will return. It’s important for him not to yo-yo with his weight, as this creates havoc on the body. It’s a lot of strain on your heart, kidneys, pancreas and liver. Your body’s insulin is like a key that opens up your cells to get the sugar into them after you eat. But with 50 or 100 extra pounds, your insulin can’t handle all of those cells so the sugar stays in the blood and that’s diabetes. When you have all that sugar in your blood it can affect your kidneys and your nerve endings.” To hear more about Rob Kardashian, head over to iTunes and download the latest HollywoodLife podcast for free!

“Type 2 can be managed with diet alone and/or medication,” Lisa says. “Since Rob is so young to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, its imperative that it’s controlled otherwise it could get escalate and insulin shots would become necessary.
