Rather than sharing a selfie to support Kesha, Miley instead reposted a selfie Fiona took with a sign that included a powerful message. “Kesha — I am so angry for you. They were wrong. I’m so sorry,” said the sign. Miley is nowhere to be seen in the pic, and she didn’t even caption the pic with anything else. Clearly Fiona’s saddened expression and heartbreaking sign conveyed the exact feelings Miley has toward the situation.
Ironically, Dr. Luke was one of the writers who worked with Miley on her massive hit, “Wrecking Ball,” but that can’t overpower her strong feelings toward Kesha’s legal troubles with him. Kesha has been dealing with this case since 2014, when she sued Dr. Luke for sexually assaulting her. She still has six albums left on her Sony contract, and although the company has offered her the opportunity to collaborate with other producers, she fears that they still won’t promote her music because of their ties with Dr. Luke.

As a result of the 16-month legal dispute, Kesha’s career has basically been silenced. With the recent court decision to uphold her contract with Sony Music, her fellow female singers have expressed their frustration with the denial of her musical freedom — and freedom from Dr. Luke. Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and more have taken to Twitter to show their support, and Taylor Swift even donated $250,000 to help her with “financial needs.”
Although Miley didn’t technically add to the Kesha conversation with anything original, it’s nice to see that she stands with Fiona and all of the other huge names in support. As more and more artists joining the fight for Kesha’s freedom, it seems they won’t be stopping the conversation until Kesha gets some justice.
