The episode picked up where we last left off — Clary stuck between Jace and Simon. Despite Simon’s begging, Jace told Clary that he could help them. Simon, having been left out of the loop, was all kinds of confused. Jace taunted him, saying he and Clary have a “thing,” their Shadowhunters thing. Jace and Clary introduced Simon to Isabelle, and it was just about the most adorable yet awkward thing ever. Simon just couldn’t get the right words out. He’s just so darn lovable.
Clary and Jace had work to do. He took her to meet Hodge Starkweather, the Shadowhunters’ weapons trainer and Jocelyn’s former best friend. He also used to be a Circle Member and revealed Jocelyn used to be a member of the Circle, too. Everyone thought Valentine died in a fire, but we all know that’s a lie.
Hodge said Valentine could destroy anything and everything, especially if he got his hands on the Mortal Cup. Then Clary remembered what her mother said about her hiding something important from someone. Clary didn’t realize just how important the Mortal Cup was to everyone. It’s just the most important object in the Shadow World and can create more Shadowhunters. If Jocelyn did hide it, Clary would be in even more danger.
Getting Back Lost Memories
Jace pleaded with Clary to remember more about the Cup. That was kind of impossible because Clary’s memory had been wiped! It was essential for them to find Dot since she was a warlock. Too bad Clary doesn’t know about Magnus — yet!
Meanwhile, Luke was kicking butt and taking names. He beat up a member of the Circle and then turned into SOMETHING. Dot later showed up to Luke’s place, thinking Clary would be with him. Nope. Girl never even made it. After realizing everything was worse than she previously thought, Dot knew she had to find Magnus.
The Ultimate Protector
Isabelle had a new toy to play with, and his name was Simon. He tried his hardest to keep an eye on Jace and Clary, but Isabelle dished out some major truths. Clary was with the ultimate protector — Jace was the strongest, fastest and fiercest. Clary was fine. That was NOT what Simon wanted to hear.
Later, Isabelle and Clary had some quality girl talk. Even though Clary would never admit it, she wanted to know what the deal was between Isabelle and Jace. Isabelle admitted there was nothing going on. Isabelle’s family had taken Jace in when he was 10, after his dad was killed by a Circle Member. Isabelle added that she thought Simon was “nerd hot.”
Dot headed to see Magnus at Pandemonium, but he wasn’t sticking around. Valentine’s people were hunting warlocks, and Magnus was going to get the heck out of dodge. On her way out, one Circle Members attacked Dot. Boy, this woman can’t catch a break.
Everyone Wants The Mortal Cup
Clary had a vision and saw Dot’s attack going down. Clary was adamant about getting her memories back. Jace offered up the Silent Brothers, which Alec was totally against. The Silent Brothers were Shadowhunters with powers that could recover memories. They could also kill you, so there’s that. Clary admitted to Simon that — amidst the craziness — everything was starting to make sense. She took Jace’s hand, and Simon felt like the total third wheel. Poor guy.
The Silent Brothers weren’t messing around. Jace said the pain of getting Clary’s memories back would be excruciating. She didn’t care. She needed to find her mother. Together and holding hands, Jace and Clary went to see the Silent Brothers, who were actually terrifying. Their eyes and mouths were stitched up. Yuck. While she was with them, Clary learned that Valentine is her real father!
Speaking of Dot, she was Valentine’s new prisoner. He asked her to break the spell on Jocelyn. Since she wasn’t the warlock who cast the spell, she couldn’t undo it. She later escaped and was attacked again by one of Valentine’s followers. She stabbed him, but then Valentine showed up. Will Dot make it out of this one alive?
While Clary and Jace were with the Silent Brothers, Simon and Isabelle were having a little one-on-one time. She left him alone in the van for 5 minutes and someone kidnapped him! He was kidnapped by a group of vampires who wanted the Mortal Cup. Oh boy. This should be fun.
