In the film, Nicki plays a sassy hairdresser named Draya who works in the barbershop while Tyga plays a guy named Whack MC. It seems Tyga’s character might be part of the bad guy group in the movie, as he is shown right after Calvin (Ice Cube) mentions how dangerous it is in their city. Tyga’s appearance is brief, but one thing caught our eye right away: His man bun! (Wonder what Kylie Jenner thinks about that!) Along with Tyga’s surprising ‘do, Nicki’s character flaunts some major cleavage in a skin-tight black outfit. She even compares herself to a black American Express card and jokes, “I never get denied.” Needless to say, Tyga and Nicki make pretty memorable first impressions in their Barbershop debut!
Although this is the first Barbershop role for both Nicki and Tyga, it isn’t the first time we’ve seen the rappers in a feature film. Nicki played Cameron Diaz‘s assistant in 2014’s romantic comedy The Other Woman, and Tyga made an appearance in this summer’s crime comedy drama Dope as De’Andre. While Nicki showed plenty of cleavage in her last role, Tyga definitely wasn’t rocking a man bun in his!
By the time Barbershop: The Next Cut hits theaters in April 2016, it will have been 12 years since a Barbershop movie has been released. The last one came out in February 2004! In the third film of the series, Calvin and his Calvin’s Barbershop crew find themselves in a scary situation as their hometown of Chicago is growing more and more dangerous due to gang violence. They’ll have to come together to try to save their families and community — and it will certainly be interesting to see where Nicki and Tyga come in!
