They both went through heartbreaking splits with their husbands in 2015, just months apart. “I Used To Love You” was written by Gwen about ending her marriage with Gavin Rossdale, reportedly after an appalling cheating scandal with their nanny. The song is all about remembering that you used to love someone that has since earned your hate. Her raw, emotional AMAs performance really showed that her feelings are still hurt.
