Deacon is still with us! Whew! The country crooner made it through his liver transplant and was better than ever. However, he awoke to some gut-wrenching news. His sister, Beverly (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson), was the one who didn’t wake up from the surgery.
She agreed to be Deacon’s donor but forgot to tell doctors what kinds of medications she was on before the surgery. Now she’s in a coma. Just when Deacon gets through one obstacle, he’s slammed with another. Poor guy.

Charles spoke out about the devastating episode and revealed that Deacon is going to have a lot of guilt over the surgery, even though it wasn’t his fault.
“That’s what people keep trying to tell him—that this wasn’t your fault,” Charles told E! News. “But he’s not going to hear that. How do you hear that? All he knows is she was fine and then she did this for him and now she’s not.”
This turn of events is definitely going to impact his relationship with Rayna (Connie Britton). Charles admits that Beverly’s hospitalization is a “road block” for Deacon and Rayna, but he’s not giving up hope on one of Nashville’s most popular couples.
“They’ve come through so much after so long,” Charles revealed. “She’s always been his rock, even when they weren’t together, so now that they are together she’s there for him and there are things that she can speak to him that no one else would be able to. If anybody can get through to Deacon, it’s Rayna.”
Nashville airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
