Taylor Swift & Nicki Minaj: It’s Great You Buried The Hatchet At The VMAs

Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj officially buried the hatchet after their tiff with an epic performance at the start of the MTV VMAs. Like everyone else watching, I was stunned by these two powerful ladies joining forces on stage. The finest example of girl power I've seen in a long time. No one saw that coming. Taylor Swift, 25, and Nicki Minaj, 32, surprised the world by performing together at the start of the VMAs on Aug. 30. These two got into a feud on social media after the VMA nominations were announced, but that is a thing of the past. Apologies were made, but fans like myself saw first-hand at the VMAs that there is zero bad blood between Tay and Nicki. Quite frankly, I'm both surprised and glad these two decided to truly make peace so publicly. Bravo, ladies!

Honestly, I wasn’t going to believe Taylor and Nicki feud was over until I saw these two hug it out or do something in person. You can only say so much on social media. There is just something kind of emotionless about social media as a whole.

Taylor and Nicki teaming up at the VMAs is what dreams are made of. There’s nothing better than a surprise performance, and this was a chance to let two amazing artists shine, without letting drama get in the way. Nicki and Taylor’s performance was girl power at its finest, and I’m so thankful I was able to experience that moment.

But let’s take a little trip down memory lane. After the VMA nominations were released, Nicki felt that her songs, “Anaconda” and “Feelin’ Myself” with Beyonce, were snubbed in the Video of the Year category. Nicki tweeted, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”

Taylor, whose “Bad Blood” music video was nominated for Video of the Year, took this as a dig. She responded to Nicki’s tweet, “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.” Taylor even told Nicki she could come up to the stage if she won! Nicki insisted that her rant was not about Taylor after things spiraled out of control.

Taylor didn’t want any bad blood with Nicki, so she apologized on Twitter on July 23. She tweeted, “I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki.” Nicki soon accepted Tay’s apology and praised the singer for making amends. But it wasn’t real until the VMAs!
