Zayn Malik Announces New Deal With RCA To Make ‘Real Music’ — Dissing One Direction?

Oh, how the tables have turned! Four months after Zayn Malik left One Direction, the singer made an announcement revealing he's ready to make 'real music' with his new label, RCA. Was that comment a diss on his music making days with One Direction? Zayn Malik, 22, revealed great news via Twitter on July 29. The singer signed a new deal with RCA, but that wasn't the only thing he did. Zayn went on to say he's ready to make "real music" with the label -- sounds like he's subtly throwing shade to his former band One Direction!

Expect new music to come from the former One Direction member soon! The 22-year-old is back to his music making ways all thanks to RCA. Zayn revealed on Twitter, “I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!” Although Zayn is excited to start making music again, we can’t help but wonder if his first hashtag was meant as a sly diss towards his old bandmates and making music with them.

Shortly after that message, Zayn simply tweeted, “#REALME.” The short tweet is a message to let everyone know the singer is ready to show his true self to the world now that he’s a solo artist. The ‘real music’ hashtag to his previous tweet wasn’t so much as a diss towards his former bandmates, but more of a proclamation to let everyone know he’s going to make music to his liking. Even though Zayn is no longer under the same Syco Music/Columbia Records label has 1D, he’s still a part of their musical family. RCA is owned by Sony Music Entertainment, which also owns Columbia Records, so technically they’re all still under the same umbrella.

Zayn Reacts To Liam Payne’s Message On 1D’s 5 Year Anniversary

There’s definitely no bad blood between Zayn and his former bandmates. On One Direction’s five year anniversary, Liam thanked Zayn for all the great memories they made during the time he was a part of the group. “Wowwwww 5 years 5 boys what an amazing journey I couldn’t thank you all ever enough and thankyou Louis Niall Harry and zayn for everything,” Liam tweeted on July 23. Zayn responded, “@Real_Liam_Payne thanks bro! x.”

What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Was Zayn dissing One Direction with that ‘real music’ hashtag?
