“Life doesn’t get easier but I promise you that life will make you stronger,” Khloe wrote in her Instagram message on June 15, with a photo of a woman crying accompanying the message. Khloe is clearly heartbroken, and our hearts hurt because she’s hurting.
It seems as if Khloe’s message is also her way of reaching out to Lamar. He has suffered so much loss in his life. His mother, Cathy Mercer, died of colon cancer when he was 12, the grandmother who helped raise him, Mildred Mercer, died in 2004. His 7-month-old son, Jayden, became a victim of a tragic cot death in 2006.

Khloe’s first message about Jamie read, “When does it stop? RIP Jamie Sangouthai.” She also tweeted a multitude of broken hearts and sad face emojis to express her sadness. Khloe’s BFF, Malika Haqq, 32, shared her grief as well on Instagram. Lamar has yet to comment on his friend’s passing.
Jamie Sangouthai Dies Of Reported Drug Overdose
Jamie was taken to a Los Angeles hospital on June 14 and later passed away. He reportedly died of a heroin overdose, according to TMZ. Police have not released an official cause of death yet. He was a prominent guest star on Khloe & Lamar, and the show took notice of his troubles during its two-season run.
Lamar and Jamie were longtime friends. They grew up in Queens, New York together, according to Daily Mail. While on Khloe & Lamar, Lamar and Jamie teamed up as partners for their clothing line, Rich Soil. Jamie served as one of Lamar’s best men in the NBA player’s 2009 marriage to Khloe.
Our thoughts remain with Jamie’s family and friends during this difficult time. What a devastating tragedy.
