How To Clean Makeup Brushes — IT Cosmetics Shares Their 4 Quick & Easy Steps
If you’re noticing your makeup brushes have seen better days, IT Cosmetics says restoring them to their former glory is as easy as following these steps (no excuses!):
“1) Dampen your brush head under warm water.
2) Using a small amount of facial cleanser, gently massage the brush head, working the cleanser through the brush. You can rub the brush head on a damp washcloth to help remove makeup.
3) Holding your brush on a downward angle, rinse with warm water, allowing the water to run down and away from the brush. Squeeze water from brush and continue to rinse until the water runs clear.
4) Squeeze out excess water, reshape the brush head and lay your brush flat to dry.
You should be washing your brushes once a week!”
Here’s How To Tell When You Need A New Brush
If you’ve been hanging onto your brushes for years without cleaning them properly, it’s probably time to replace them with some new ones. Especially your liquid foundation brushes and any brushes you use near your eyes, as over time, they become full of bacteria that can cause breakouts and irritate the sensitive skin around your eyes.
