Diddy’s Son Quincy Dishes On His Music and Acting
Impressively, Quincy, Diddy’s oldest son, has chosen path #1. At just 23 years old, he’s a singer, actor, entrepreneur and philanthropist, and work isn’t a four-letter word to him– it’s his favorite word. He’s just released his catchy single, “Friends First”, off his next album 1948, which will be released April 24th, the same day as his new film, Brotherly Love. Then in June, his next film, Dope, will hit movie theaters.
And Quincy says that this is just the beginning of what he wants to do. He’s got big plans for his entertainment and business career. Hmm…sounds like someone he’s related to who’s reportedly worth $700 million and who built a career singing and producing music, designing the Sean Jean clothing collection, marketing Cîroc vodka and now building Revolt TV, a new cable music network.
Quincy tells HollywoodLife.com that he doesn’t drink alcohol, coffee, Coke or any caffeinated beverages, sleeps just four or five hours a night, and is loving his multi-faceted career. When he sings, his tunes like “Friends First” come from the heart. A very relationship-mature heart. Like, when was the last time you heard a hot young guy singer write and sing a song about how it’s important for him to be friends first with a girl before he gets romantic? Quincy explains that he has to be comfortable hanging with a girl and having fun doing things together and just being together, before he can get romantically involved. Music to our ears.
Quincy Has Plenty Of Respect For Women
It’s not surprising that he respects relationships with women so much when he explains that he’s very close to his mother, Kim Parker, and was so especially close to his grandmother, who was born in 1948, that he named the album for her.
“She was my everything,” Quincy says of his grandmother, who sadly passed away last year.
Quincy says that despite outside perceptions of what it might be like to be the son of a rap artist, his family is extremely close and that he was well-disciplined.
“I’ve been raised very maturely. I thank my family for that. I’m glad I’m this way. It gets me further in life. I’m able to better communicate with those above me,” he explains.
Quincy Reveals Details About His Childhood and Inspiration
He laughs about his dad’s various monikers: Puff Daddy, P Diddy, Diddy– “his name changes by the hour,” but to Quincy, he’s just “Dad”.
“He was really present when I was growing up. If he wasn’t able to be home, we were with him wherever he was,” he reveals. The “we” is all of his siblings: brother Justin, 21, a student on a football scholarship at UCLA, his younger brother Christian, 16, twin sisters Jessie James and D’Lila Star, 9, and little sister Chance, 9.
And despite his family’s wealth, he had to do chores and help clean up around the house when he was growing up.
Now, his music is inspired by classic soul musicians like Marvin Gaye, the R&B group 112, and friends Trey Songz and Drake (who is not always his dad’s friend, though).
He can’t wait for his two films, Brotherly Love and Dope, to hit theaters. Both deal with young people getting into difficult situations and having to make tough choices. “Sometimes in life you have to make the least worst choice,” he points out.
So what’s Quincy’s idea of a good time? Playing a game of flag football with Chris Brown to raise money for charity, or going bowling. He’s a serious bowler– almost as serious as he is about singing, acting and being “friends first”.
RHOA’s Cynthia Bailey Spills Her Opinion On The Other Housewives
Now for Cynthia Bailey; she is also one serious woman. And she’s not about to be pushed around by any of the other ladies on the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
“I’m happy to have found my voice this season. I’ve always had a voice, but I’m the type of person who picks and chooses their battles. I’m not super-confrontational,” she says. Nevertheless, she’s “found in this group of women that being less vocal can be perceived as weak.”
You think?
Yes, we’ve seen this too. “Sometimes the other girls get too down and dirty for me,” admits Cynthia, 47. “I consider myself a voice of reason, a light in the darkness.”
Well, thank goodness someone is on RHOA. Cynthia refuses to worry about voicing her opinion “because someone might drag me across the floor or choke me.”
Cynthia Bailey Chats About Her Hopes For This Season of RHOA
She is thrilled that NeNe Leakes actually issued an apology this season, but she’s not going to be happy at all if Phaedra Parks doesn’t take her two sons to see their father, Apollo Nida, while he serves eight years in prison: “If it were me and my husband, regardless of whether I wanted to stay with him or not, I will say that I would take my kid in to see their father.”
So would we, Cynthia!
