‘Vampire Diaries’: Jeremy Risks His Life To Save Bonnie On Her Birthday

It was pretty much the opposite of a happy birthday for Bonnie, who was stuck on the other side alone. Luckily for her, she still had a man back home who wouldn't let her give up. It was a dark episode for a birthday celebration, but it may have been just what everyone needed. On the Feb. 5 episode of The Vampire Diaries, Elena (Nina Dobrev) realized what she really wanted out of her new relationship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) . . . while Stefan (Paul Wesley) once again stepped up for Caroline (Candice Accola) in the perfect way.

Bonnie’s Birthday Isn’t So Happy

After Kai (Chris Wood) and Luke merged, Kai didn’t only get his power he also got some of his feelings — so he was finally willing to try and help Delena get to Bonnie or at least send her a message on her birthday. Naturally, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) was skeptical since he didn’t (and probably shouldn’t) trust Kai, but he’d do anything it takes to get to her.

When he did get to her, he found out she was drinking the bourbon that she and Damon agreed they would only have when they had given up — then they would kill themselves. While Kai’s magic wasn’t enough for Damon, Elena and Jeremy to stay there, it was enough to keep Jeremy there long enough to save her, and make her believe that she was strong. The magic was also enough to let Jeremy’s map reach her, which Damon had circled Nova Scotia in. Of course, that’s where Qetsiyah’s blood is inside Silas’ headstone — which is her key to escaping.

I Always Find My Way Back To You

During all of this, Caroline was coping with Bonnie’s birthday a different way — digging up Ms. Cuddles with the help of Stefan. Except instead of helping, he stood there and got drunk, which in the end was exactly what she needed — a friend she could laugh with, until that face-to-face we-should-kiss moment, when she began to cry. YOU’RE KILLING US HERE STEROLINE. (Luckily in next week’s extended trailer, we do see them FINALLY kiss.)

However, it showed that Bon Bon’s birthday actually brought people together. After saving her, Jeremy realized she wasn’t the only one that needed saving — it was time for him to do something for himself: ie., art school. Elena reassured him and there he went, to start his applications (which, BTW Jer, I’m pretty sure you can fill those out online not on a crinkled up piece of paper. Not such an artsy move.)

It was also time for Elena to find herself — and that was with Damon, for good. After they had “the talk” AKA a make out earlier, they hadn’t determined really where they stood. But she wanted him.

“I somehow always find myself back to you. It doesn’t matter if I’m a vampire or not. I don’t care what human-me would have done. She’s not here, I am. If the past is a place without you and me together. then let’s stop living in it.” Nice speech Elena. It worked for Damon — they finally slept together again.

Not All Endings Are Happy

Unfortunately, not every couple can last. After Luke’s death, Liv (Olivia Parker) wants to do anything to kill Kai even though that will kill her. When Tyler (Michael Trevino) tried to save her, she literally chose death over him — she knocked him out so she could try to kill Kai. Luckily, she couldn’t succeed (I can’t help but love him!), but once Tyler woke up and realized what she did (and of course, waited to make sure she was okay) he left.

Oh yeah, and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) forced Matt (Zach Roerig) to help him ruin Sarah Salvatore (Tristin Mays)’s life, just because. And we have a feeling that that story isn’t even close to beginning.

What did you think of the episode, HollywoodLifers? Are you ready for a Steroline kiss or what? Are you happy Delena’s back to sexy Delena? Let us know!
