Sarah Hyland & Matt Prokop:–Violating Restraining Order?
Since filing the restraining order against Matt in September, the 24 year old Modern Family star has been piecing her life back together day by day. Unfortunately, Matt, 24, has once again resorted to harassing Sarah, dragging her back into her nightmare.
“Matt has been bombarding her and her management team with distressed calls, texts and messages on social media” a friend of Sarah’s tells Hollywoodlife.com. “He’s knows he shouldn’t be contacting her but he just won’t stop, saying he still loves her. He’s even threatened to kill himself.
“Sarah is really shaken up. She’s been crying a lot, reaching out to supportive friends and family. She even contacted the rehab facility Matt had gone to but there isn’t much they can do to help.
“Sarah had changed her number and hoped she had gotten past that painful time in her life. Unfortunately, Matt won’t move on. She doesn’t want to get the police involved again but she may have no other choice.”

On Oct. 6, the actress was granted a three year restraining order against Prokop after claiming she feared for her life following a series of ugly incidents, where he was verbally and physically abusive, including one where he choked her against a car.
In court documents filed by Sarah the actress claims, “His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life.”
The actor, who has moved back to Victoria, TX, must now stay 100 yards from Sarah and her house, not go near her workplace, not own a gun, and not attack or threaten her dog in any way.
James Silverstein, a Los Angeles criminal defense attorney says Matt could land himself in the jail if he violates the restraining order.
“Under California Law, it is at least a misdemeanor, to violate a valid restraining order which has been issued against the restrained party. In full stay away protective orders, prohibited conduct is wide-ranging, and prohibits, among other restrictions, that the restrained party not have ANY contact with the protected party. This includes no phone calls, emails, texts, or even third party contact.”
Silverstein states that assuming Matt has been ordered not to contact Sarah, “any phone calls, texts, emails, or other electronic contact will violate the restraining order, and subject him to arrest and criminal prosecution.”
Sarah and Matt began dating in 2008 after meeting while auditioning for High School Musical 3: Senior Year. They later starred together in Disney Channel’s original movie Geek Charming in 2011.
Let’s hope Matt gets the help he needs and lets Sarah move on with her life.
