‘Vampire Diaries’ Cast Campaigns for Crew Member Sarah Jones — Will the Oscars Honor Her?

Nina Dobrev is reaching out to her 4.45 million Twitter followers, urging them to sign a petition, in honor of The Vampire Diaries crew member, Sarah Jones.

The Slates for Sarah campaign launched on February 26, just the day after Sarah’s famous friends celebrated her life with tragic, yet touching tweets, including Nina’s heartfelt message, “Sarah Jones had the most beautiful spirit and a smile that lit up our set for years.”  Nina also posed on her Instagram with Paul Wesley and a special slate board that was dedicated to Sarah on the CW set.

The online petition is a vehicle to grab the Academy’s attention, asking them to include Sarah in the annual ‘In Memoriam’ tribute ceremony during this weekend’s Oscars. On the morning of February 28, the petition will be submitted for consideration.

Until then, Nina is urging the public to make a difference, and lend their signatures to the cause:

The starlet’s next tweet proved just how powerful her fan base is. The petition had reached over 21,000 signatures in just one day:

By the time that I completed writing this piece, Sarah’s petition reached 27,999 signatures — the maximum is 28,000. We love to see Hollywood celebrities making a difference in the world!

HollywoodLifers, do you think Sarah Jones should be honored during the Academy Awards?
