The crux of this week’s drama centered around Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) plan to bring Bonnie (Kat Graham) back from the dead by trading Silas’ (Paul Wesley) life for hers — you know, like the way you trade Pokemon cards. The first part of the plan, get Silas [EDITOR’S NOTE: I originally wrote Klaus there, but typos happen, so let’s all move on] to drink Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) cure-blood, was do-able. The second part? Not so much.
(Side note: Is Katherine a vampire now? I mean, how else would she have survived being completely drained by Klaus if she’s still human?!)
It turns out the gang still needs a supernatural “anchor,” which was created by Tessa (Janina Gavankar) — who looked incredible as Cleopatra, by the way — only she has no clue where it is. Those damn Travellers hid it from her, so methinks that still-possessed Matt (Zach Roerig) is about to find his way into this little plot real soon.
How I Met Your Mommelganger
Now let’s discuss the biggest shocker of the night: Nadia (Olga Fonda) is Katherine’s daughter! It wasn’t the reunion I’m sure Nadia had hoped for — Katherine had just impaled her with a huge piece of wood moments before the big reveal — but nonetheless, it’s sure to complicate the hunt for the anchor. And everything else, of course.
Speaking of familial surprises, we also learned that Elena’s new friend Aaron (Shaun Sipos) is the “son” of Dr. Maxfield (Rick Cosnett)! This reveal was a little more predictable than Nadia/Katherine, but honestly, I just didn’t expect 30-year-old Rick to be playing a father to 32-year-old Shaun. CW math strikes again!
Question #1: Does anyone else think Aaron may have been dressed as Dr. Jekyll for a reason? When Elena asked him about Mr. Hyde, he told her he wasn’t responsible for that side of him. (It certainly wouldn’t be the first time someone on this show has played two characters.)
Question #2: Did Rick refer to Aaron as Harry, or am I totally crazy? Maybe that has something to do with the whole Jekyll/Hyde situation…
Caroline & Tyler: ‘We Are Done’
Despite her best efforts to get Tyler (Michael Trevino) psyched about college, Caroline (Candice Accola) was disappointed to learn there’s only one course her boyfriend has on his mind: Revenge 101. He’s still hating on Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and he told her he can’t just sit in a classroom, knowing the mischievous Mikaelson is still out there raising hell.
Their disagreement quickly grew into a full-blown fight, during which Caroline basically begged, “Love me more than you hate him!” But Ty-Ty just couldn’t be swayed. Caroline told him that if he walked away from her, they were “done,” and that’s exactly what he did.
Suddenly, Jesse’s (Kendrick Sampson) odds are looking much better!
