‘The Carrie Diaries’ Scoop: Lindsey Gort Cast As Samantha Jones

Fabulous! 'The Carrie Diaries' has found its Samantha Jones in newcomer Lindsey Gort, The CW announced on July 20. Do you think Lindsey's a good choice? Lindsey Gort will take on the role of Samantha Jones, made famous by Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall, in season two of The Carrie Diaries. Along with The CW's announcement, the network also shared a few details about how Samantha will be introduced.

Lindsey Gort Cast As Samantha Jones — ‘The Carrie Diaries’ Season 2 Scoop

According to HollywoodLife.com’s sister site TVLine, the show’s producers are describing the introduction of Samantha’s character during season two as follows:

Through a surprising connection, our young Carrie Bradshaw will meet one of the most important people in her life this season in a role made iconic by Kim Cattrall: Samantha Jones, a ballsy, beautiful and sexy young woman from the panhandle of Florida who has made her way — and already a name for herself — in the rock ’n’ roll scene of 1980s NYC.

Just like the book series, Samantha is a cousin to Carrie Diaries‘ mean girl Donna LaDonna (Chloe Bridges).

“I’m really, really excited. I think it’s going to be so much fun. I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes,” AnnaSophia Robb. who plays Carrie Bradshaw, told TVLine in May.

Lindsey is a vocalist and stage actress, but will soon star in 2 Guns alongside Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. She has also appeared on Dancing With the Stars.
