“They told me they were going to blow my brains out if I didn’t give them something,” she told local Portland station KATU.com on Dec. 8 after the incident.
She was parked outside Freedom Foursquare Church waiting for her parents, when the two boys came up to her window. She recognized them as two kids who sometimes frequent the church.
Then, one pulled him his shirt to reveal a loaded handgun in his pocket. When she asked if the gun was real, she said one of the kids told her, “You don’t ever ask somebody if it’s real. That’s how you get yourself shot,” she told KATU.com
They demanded she hand over her truck, which she refused, so they asked for her wallet — and insisted they were going to kill her if they didn’t give her anything.
“I definitely didn’t think I was going to get out of there alive. I thought I was going to die,” she said.
Frightened, she put her car in drive and sped off. Luckily for Amy, police had been called on the two boys earlier after someone else had reported seeing two boys playing with a gun.
The boys were caught by police, but not arrested
When police arrived, the two boys tried to run away — but police caught up with them, and recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun out of the 11-year-old boy’s pocket. He was taken in the back of the police car, while the 7-year-old was sitting on the curb “crying hysterically,” according to Amy.
However, the boys were released to their parents’ care because they are too young to be held in a juvenile detention center. Amy told police the kids’ release was “scary.”
