The Fashion Star judge has come under fire from critics about her weight gain during pregnancy. All expecting mothers get a little bigger, but Jessica may be in dangerous territory not just for her health, but for her baby’s as well.
“Her doctors have told her to expect a 10 lb baby,” Dr. Tara Solomon, owner at The Women’s Wellness Center of South Florida, told HollywoodLife.com on March 27. “The problem with large babies is that they can have respiratory problems and problems maintaining their glucose or sugar levels. I usually try to keep my patients at a 25 lb weight gain maximum in order to prevent a possible traumatic delivery with a large child. A pregnant woman should be eating about 1200 calories a day to keep up with baby’s nutritional needs. She has gone overboard for sure.”
Considering her diet of cheesecake for breakfast and fried chicken for lunch, it looks like Jessica’s enjoying her bigger appetite to the fullest. And an unlikely supporter has Jessica’s back against those critics: former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin!
“I would have wanted to punch [Jessica’s critics] in the neck,” Sarah shared while co-hosting Today on April 3. “It’s none of anybody else’s business how much weight I would gain.”
Whoa! No need to get violent, Mama Bear.
Jessica does plan to lose at least 50 pounds after she gives birth using Weight Watchers, as the popular weight loss program has offered Jessica $3 million to become its next spokesperson.
We’re glad to see Jessica has a sense of humor about all her critics — but let’s hope she takes better care of herself and the baby after the birth.
