A wild ride. Tippi Hedren is an actress, iconic for her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds as well as her animal activism. The Minnesota-born beauty started as a model before pivoting to acting in the early 60s after Hitchcock discovered her on the set of a commercial. From there she went on to appear in over 80 films and television shows, including the psychological drama Marnie, the political satire Citizen Ruth, the absurdist comedy I Heart Huckabees, and more.
In addition to her acting career, Tippi is a wildlife advocate, whose non-profit the Roar Foundation supports the Shambala Preserve, an 80-acre wildlife habitat for big cats in Southern California.
Tippi is also the head of an acting dynasty. Her only daughter is Melanie Griffith. Melanie’s own daughter Dakota Johnson is also an actress, known for her role in 50 Shade Of Grey.
