‘The Midnight Sky’ is a new Netflix film directed by George Clooney. He also stars in the film as Augustine, a lonely and dying scientist who goes to great lengths to prevent a spaceship of astronauts from coming back to Earth after a catastrophic event. The spaceship consists of Sully (Felicity Jones), Commander Adewole (David Oyelowo), Sanchez (Demián Bichir), Mitchell (Kyle Chandler), and Maya (Tiffany Boone). Maya tragically dies in the film after being injured while working on the outside of the ship. Mitchell and Sanchez go back to Earth, while Sully and Adewole head towards the planet K-23 to start a new life there. The movie premiered Dec. 23 and is an adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s acclaimed novel ‘Good Morning, Midnight.’ This is the 7th film George has directed over the course of his career.
