‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ premiered in 2017 and has become a critical success for Hulu. Season 4 has finally arrived, so take a look at photos from season 1 to now.
The Handmaid’s Tale has been shocking audiences since 2017. With Elisabeth Moss at the helm as June, the series follows the events of the novel of the same name and beyond, dissecting the dystopian world of Gilead, created by Margaret Atwood. Though the original novel was written in 1985, the themes and fears of a religious totalitarian state taking over the United States is still very captivating today.
June, or Offred as she is known in Gilead, is enslaved as essentially a concubine, forcibly raped by Commanders so that they and their wives can have children. The series, having extended beyond the initial story, has followed June through several attempts to escape, reunite with her family, and ultimately, become a leader in the rebellion against the society that stripped her of her rights and freedoms.
With an all-star cast, this award-winning show is pushing the boundaries and bringing topical, political situations to the forefront with compelling writing and storytelling.
