Ted Bundy is known as one of the most sadistic serial killers of all time. Throughout the 1970s, Bundy kidnapped, murdered, and raped dozens young women and girls — and had sex with their dead bodies. He potentially killed more women earlier that the 70s, but it remains unknown. After decades of denial, Bundy confessed to 30 murders throughout seven states between 1974 and 1978. But the actual number of victims will never be known. Bundy was able to get close to his victims because he was handsome and charismatic. He would meet them in public, and gain their trust by saying he was injured, or a police officer. He would then take them somewhere secluded, where he would assault them. Or, in some cases, break into their apartments and kill them while they were asleep. With some of the victims, Bundy would perform sexual acts on their corpses until they became too decomposed to do so anymore. He decapitated at least 12 victims and kept their heads in his apartments as trophies, along with other body parts. Bundy escaped after being arrested several times, and was ultimately sentenced to death row; he died in the electric chair in 1989.
