Shawn Mendes, set to take on the 2024 Video Music Awards stage, rose to fame by posting a cover of Justin Bieber‘s “As Long As You Love Me” on the now-defunct social media app Vine.

His six-second clips quickly garnered millions of views, turning him into an internet sensation and paving the way for a successful music career with hits like “Stitches” and “Señorita.” Today, the Canadian singer-songwriter has continued to captivate audiences with his soulful voice and introspective lyrics.
