Oliva Newton-John — She’s the one that you want, the one that you need. Oh, yes indeed. The English-born Olivia Newton-John found her fame early in her adopted home of Australia when she formed a short-lived girl-group named Sol Four. From there, she began a music career that would see her top the charts with a handful of songs, including “I Honestly Love You,” “Have You Never Been Mellow,” “ Please Mr. Please,” and “Come On Over.” She became a pop culture icon in 1978 when she landed the part of Sandy in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Grease. Olivia and John Travolta electrified the screen, and three of her songs on the soundtrack – “You’re The One That I Want,” “Summer Nights,” and “Hopelessly Devoted To You” were certified hits. While her career took a dip with her appearance in the musical flop Xanadu, she rebounded with the monster-hit “Physical.” The song became one of the tracks synonymous with the 1980s and was the peak of Olivia’s success. While she never attained similar levels of professional success after “Physical,” she continued to perform afterwards, delighting crowds and fans across the world.
