“Go Big, Be KIND, Go West.”
With those words, Nina West won over the heart of every RuPaul’s Drag Race viewer. The beloved drag queen, who competed on Season 11 of the Emmy-winning reality competition, may not have taken the crown, but she won so much more. A celebrated performer before joining Drag Race, Nina West was known for her over-the-top gigs, amazing outfits and, even more so, her big heart. The Columbus, Ohio-based queen has been deeply involved in philanthropy for years. With The Nina West Fund, she has raised millions of dollars for causes like HIV/AIDS testing, marriage quality and trans rights.
As a performer, Nina’s talents aren’t contained to the stage or the screen. In 2019, she released a bevy of music: her children’s EP, DRAG IS MAGIC; her hilarious John Goodman EP; a spooktacular track, “Lisa Frankenstein”; and her ode to the holidays, The West Christmas Ever. Don’t ever accuse Nina of not practicing what she preaches, because she always goes big and stays kind. Go West!
