Jean-Claude Van Damme is a Belgian action star who rose to fame through martial arts films in the 1980s and 1990s. His first major blockbuster, Bloodsport, put him on the map. Called “The Muscles From Brussels,” Jean-Claude (aka JCVD) is an incredibly accomplished martial artist and kickboxer, known for his amazing kicks and splits. The 1989 film Kick Boxer proved that he’s a pretty amazing dancer, too.
Jean-Claude soared to fame in the 1990s with films like Street Fighter, which has been likened to his version of Mortal Kombat. He raged again onscreen in 2012 for Expendables 2, acting alongside some of the other biggest action stars in Hollywood.
