Gabourey Sidibe is an American actress who is best known for her role in the 2009 film ‘Precious.’ As a matter of fact, the film was her big acting debut, and turned out to be quite the fan-favorite! The American drama film was directed and co-produced by Lee Daniels, and followed the life of Precious (portrayed by Gabourey Sidibe), a 16-year-old girl living in Harlem and facing struggles in poverty with her mother, as well as struggles of physical, verbal, and sexual abuse.
The film also included other big time stars, such as Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, Sherri Shepherd, and Lenny Kravitz.
From this one starring role Sidibe won the hearts of many people around the world, as well as three iconic awards: Satellite Special Achievement Award for Outstanding New Talent, Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead, and NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture.
