Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman’s wife Emma Coronel Aispuro is photograhed arriving at Brooklyn Federal Court. The Sinaloa cartel drug kingpin was arrested in Mexico in Jan. 2017 and extradited to the U.S. where he stood trial on charges involving drug trafficking, money laundering, and murder. Emma had a front row seat and was a constant presence in court. She would dress impeccably and blow kisses to her defendant husband.
Emma and El Chapo met when she was just 17-years-old and a contest in a Durango, Mexico beauty pageant. Chapito was in attendance and completley blown away by her beauty. On her 18th birthday, Emma and El Chapo wed in an elaborate ceremony in the mountain country outside Culiacán. Chapo was 49-years-old at the time. The pair went on to have twin daughters in 2012.
El Chapo was found guilty on 10 federal charges and sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years in July 2019. He is currently serving in sentence in a Colorado supermax prison. Emma was arrested on Feb. 22, 2021 at Dulles Int’l Airport in Virginia following an FBI investigation. She’s being charged with conspiracy to unlawfully import and distribute illegal drugs into the U.S., including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana.
