LGBTQ Disney Channel Stars — So many of our favorite Disney Channel stars have grown to truly inspire us over the years. Many of those inspiring stars identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community! Over the years, stars that we grew to know as children and teens have grown up to be adults who know themselves and are living their fullest, most authentic lives.

Stars like Miley Cyrus, Raven-Symone, Joey Pollari, and so many more have inspired so many fans because of their advocacy, allyship, and their proud identities as members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Not only have they opened up about their journeys of coming out in the public eye, but they have gone on to be inspirations to fans who grew up watching them on the small screen.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus — Miley Cyrus opened up about her sexuality and being a queer woman multiple times as she has matured in the music industry. She opened up about how it was important for her to be a proud queer woman during her marriage to Liam Hemsworth. After the couple split, she had a whirl wind relationship with Kaitlynn Carter.

Joey Pollari

Joey Pollari — Known to Disney fans as Miles on ‘Avalon High,’ Joey Pollari opened up about his sexuality while doing press for ‘Love, Simon’ in 2018. He came out as gay at the age of 18, and the central story of ‘Love, Simon’ completely resonated with him.

Raven-Symoné

Raven-Symoné — Raven-Symoné came out after the landmark Supreme Court ruling that extended marital rights to gay people in 2013. She tweeted that, because of the ruling, she could finally get married and did just that in 2020!

Alyson Stoner

Alyson Stoner — Alyson Stoner is best known for her appearances in a slew of Disney material, including ‘Mike’s Super-Short Show,’ cameos on ‘The Suite Life,’ and her starring role in ‘Camp Rock.’ She came out as queer in a personal essay entitled ‘What It Was Like To Fall In Love With A Woman’ published in 2018.

Bella Thorne

Bella Thorne — ‘Shake It Up’ alum Bella Thorne has been open about her sexuality for a few years. By July 2019, she came out as pansexual and has been open about her relationships, specifically with media personality Tana Mongeau.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato — Demi Lovato has been very open about her sexuality for the past few years. She’s been open about being interested in dating men and women, and has even suggested she could see herself starting a family one day regardless of her partner’s gender identity.

Garrett Clayton

Garrett Clayton — ‘Teen Beach Movie’ and ‘Teen Beach 2’ star Garrett Clayton opened up in 2018 about his and his partners experience with mental health. The actor has gone on to thoroughly inspire his young fans and conintue an flourishing acting career.

Hayley Kiyoko

Hayley Kiyoko — Hayley Kiyoko skyrocketed to fame after appearing in ‘Lemonade Mouth.’ But once she released her song ‘Girls Like Girls,’ Hayley announced herself and her sexuality to the world. Since coming out, she has become a major advocate and donated to the Los Angeles LGBT center.

Josie Totah

Josie Totah — Josie Totah is the inspring young actress who came out as transgender in an emotional essay with TIME magazine in August 2018. Josie is now leading the reboot of ‘Saved By The Bell!’

Mollee Gray

Mollee Gray — ‘Teen Beach Movie’ star Mollee Gray came out prior to her marriage to Jeka Jane. She opened up about how she was worried that her sexuality would limit her career, but wanted to live her most authentic life proudly.

Rowan Blanchard — Rowan Blanchard came out as queer in 2016. She has spoken in detail about how she doesn’t want to label her sexuality and is open to dating someone regardless of their gender identity.
