All hail the pride of New Jersey. Carli Lloyd, born in Delran Township in Southern New Jersey, has gone from the Garden State to sports immortality. The FIFA Women’s World Cup champion has helped the United States Women’s National Team conquer all foes and has led the team to soccer glory. Carli won the Golden Ball Trophy in the 2015 WWC, after scoring three goals within the final’s first 15 minutes. She also helped the women’s team win gold at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.
Carli began her soccer career with the Delran High School soccer team and she stayed in-state when it came to college. She enrolled at Rutgers University, playing for the Scarlet Knights. After graduating, she went ploy and played for the W-League, the Women’s Professional Soccer League and the National Women’s Soccer League. She first joined NWSL’ New York Flash in 2013, before being traded to the Houston Dash in 2015. She traveled overseas in 2017 on loan to Manchester City. Upon returning to the states, she was traded to Sky Blue FC.
Personally, she married golfer Brian Hollins in 2016. They live in New Jersey.
