The Fatal Attraction television series actor and the Queen & Slim actress named their child Juno Rose Diana after welcoming her in 2020. Juno is 3 years old at the time of publication.
During a 2020 interview with PEOPLE, Joshua joked that his daughter was “very opinionated” shortly after he and Jodie welcomed her.
“The work [of being a parent] is constant because she’s constantly a new version of herself,” the Shutter actor told the outlet. “So, I think [you have to be] open to the fact that you have to rediscover your child all the time. But the greatest piece of it right now is she’s so hyper-verbal, and she’s very, very opinionated. And I’m just enjoying the ability to be in that conversation with her.”
Joshua elaborated by noting that Juno’s “opinions were there before the words were.”
“There was never any doubt that she knew what she wanted, but now she’s able to fully express what she wants,” he added at the time.
For Jodie’s part, the Last Ship alum gushed to the same outlet that she was looking forward to playing Joshua’s film, Mighty Ducks, for Juno.
“I can’t wait,” she said before adding, “Not yet though. I want her to be a little bit more older. There’s more older kid themes in that. Also, we got to figure out how weird it’s going to be for her to see her dad as a child.”
The news about the couple’s divorce came as a surprise to many since they were just seen attending J. Crew’s 40th anniversary event in New York City on September 6. In her divorce filing, Jodie cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their split, according to TMZ. Five months before their separation, Joshua revealed that Jodie inspired him to want children and marriage.
“Partially it’s about finding somebody in the right moment of life,” he told The Times in April. “If we had met five years earlier, we probably would have had a torrid affair, but all the rest of this stuff, I was just not ready. I didn’t think I ever wanted to get married.”
The duo first met in 2018 at a charity event in Los Angeles and started dating shortly afterward. The following year, Jodie proposed, and they officially got married in December 2019.
