Following Kim Zolciak’s 911 call, claiming her husband took her phone, here are all the details you need to know about the couple’s divorce.
Every week is a different story for Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann. The former Don’t Be Tardy reality TV couple became embroiled in a nasty divorce that began in May 2023. However, they reconciled, then split again. The divorce has taken many turns, and the most recent one being Kim calling 911, claiming that Kroy locked her out of their master bedroom and took her phone.
So, are they actually getting a divorce? Keep reading to learn all about Kim and Kroy’s divorce proceedings.
Within two days of each other, Kroy and Kim filed for divorce from each other. The parties cited in their paperwork that their marriage was “irretrievably broken.” Shortly afterward, the estranged spouses started making nasty accusations against each other. Among the most outstanding allegations between them was Kim’s gambling problems, which allegedly contributed to the pair’s financial troubles.
Despite duking it out in the courts for nearly two months, Kim filed to have their divorce dismissed in July. However, their reconciliation didn’t last long, and the former football player filed for divorce again in August.
The following month, the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star asked a judge in September to dismiss Kroy’s second divorce filing. In her court documents, the reality TV star claimed that their divorce should not proceed because they were still having sex and living in their home. However, Kroy shut down Kim’s motion to dismiss the divorce by noting that he “has no desire to reconcile” with her.
The Bravolebrities were scheduled to appear virtually in court on September 27, but Kim was absent because she was flying back from another country after shooting The Surreal Life. She and Kroy are now expected to return to the courtroom in person after the judge determines a new date.
One of the more recent developments during their divorce proceedings involved Kim calling the police, claiming that Kroy took her phone and locked her out of their bedroom, according to 911 audio obtained by TMZ. In the call, she said that she didn’t feel “safe,” but couldn’t leave because she didn’t have a phone. “My husband has taken both my phones so I could not call you guys or leave the house, so that’s what I’m calling for,” she said. “He has kept them from me for hours.”
The former couple were married for 11 years. They first met in 2010 at a charity event and tied the knot later that year. Kim and Kroy are also parents to children Kash, Kaia, Kane and Kassius, in addition to Kim’s daughters Ariana and Brielle from a previous relationship. Kroy adopted Ariana and Brielle in 2013.
Multiple outlets reported that the severe stresses from their financial woes led to Kim and Kroy’s separation. Though neither of them has confirmed or denied this as the reason for their split, they filed for divorce within months after their Georgia home went into foreclosure and nearly sold on an auction block. Not only that, but the pair owes the IRS millions of dollars in taxes.
The eldest Biermann daughters have not publicly spoken about their parents’ split in detail. However, they and their step-siblings have been spotted spending time with their mom and dad over the past few months.
