John Stamos revealed that he sees a lot of his late Full House co-star Bob Saget in his son Billy, 5, every day in an interview on The View on Tuesday, October 24. The General Hospital alum, 60, wrote about the similarities that his son has to Bob, who died at 65 in January 2022, in his new memoir If You Would Have Told Me.
John revealed that when he sees his son crack jokes like the late comedian, it makes him think of Bob. “He carries Bob Saget’s sense of humor. That’s one of the things that I miss so much about Bob too, because my son, he has Bob’s humor,” he said.
One of the examples of a funny and cute story about Billy he shared was speaking about how he asked him for advice for stories he could tell when going on interviews to discuss his new book. “He said, ‘I’m going to go on the news and tell everyone your favorite word is stinky,'” he said.
John also said that Bob’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, had called him to tell him about what a great way he portrayed his Full House co-star in the book. “It was important that I write about him. His wife called me the other day crying. She said, ‘If nobody knows Bob, read this book, because it’s a true representation of him,'” he explained. “He never left anything on the table. He always said, ‘I love you. I care about you. I’m proud of you. Tomorrow is never promised. So, remember that.”
In the book, the Grandfathered star opened up about the many emotions he felt when Bob died suddenly in January 2022. “When you lose a best friend, you lose a piece of your history. I feel lost. That’s not a good thing for me. In the past, feeling stripped of someone I loved made me want to join them. No way I’d ever try to overdose or blow my brains out, but I have a history of wanting that bad feeling of emptiness to go away fast. Not this time. No drugs, no booze, no bulls**t,” he wrote.
