Mindy Kaling looked incredible in her sensational Vera Wang gown at the 2023 Oscars. The multihyphenate star absolutely stunned in the daring bodice number that featured exposed boning and delicate straps. With her trademark raven tresses pulled back, a set of dangling diamond earrings and Giuseppe Zanotti Bebe platform heels, Mindy was the moment at the most fabulous night in Hollywood!
The bold dress shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the Legally Blonde 3 writer previously said she’s all about taking fashion chances. “I never wore simple things, so when you choose to be that way, the plus side is that you feel like you’re a real artist, and you take risks and you feel like you’re moving culture forward, because you don’t want to just fit in,” she told HelloGiggles. “The downside is that often you look back and smack your forehead and think, “’Why would I wear that?’”
Last year, the mother of two also opened up about how her healthy lifestyle has resulted in weight loss. “I eat what I like to eat,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “If I do any kind of restrictive diet, it never really works for me. I just eat less of it.” She added, “I wish there was something more juicy or dynamic about the way that I’ve lost a little bit of weight, but that’s the way I’ve done it.”
Meanwhile, Mindy’s ensemble for the 2023 Oscars was the perfect complement to a night of fashion, film and, let’s not forget, music! Rihanna performed “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, her first solo release in six years. The pop icon, who is a fashionista herself, took the stage in her first performance since her epic Super Bowl Halftime Show, where she revealed her second pregnancy with A$AP Rocky. And Lady Gaga gave a surprise performance of “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick.
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the spectacle for the third time, where Everything Everywhere All at Once won the top prize, Best Picture, after leading the night with 11 nominations. The ceremony took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
