Current WWE Superstar and half of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions Montez Ford, 30, with his partner Angelo Dawkins are set to appear in a huge match on the upcoming WWE Tribute To The Troops on FOX. The jovial and larger than life wrestler spoke with HollywoodLife for an EXCLUSIVE new interview about why it is so important to be a part of this show. “Man, it is one of our biggest and most favorite shows to do every year and for myself specifically, it is huge for me because I was a prior service man,” he proudly stated.
“For me to be a part of such a huge event and give back it is like full circle and a blessing… I get the chance to entertain these young men and women who have done so much for our world and this country and you can take their mind off everything that is going on right now, it is a huge and great opportunity to be a part of,” Montez continued.
Montez will be involved in a huge ten man tag team match with many future WWE Hall of Fame performers which didn’t escape Montez who will be wrestling with many people he has idolized. The match pits Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits vs. King Corbin, Elias, Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode.
To say he is excited would be an understatement as he gushed, “Man… It is crazy man. It is crazy! I was talking about this earlier. This is all people that I watched and idolized growing up and before I got into the business.” He buttoned it off by continuing, “So now to be on the 18th Annual Tribute to the Troops and to be in the same exact ring that I idolized is crazy. I can’t even put it into words honestly. It is kind of like; it is like a quick blur. You are watching and watching, and you think, ‘These guys are awesome!’ They put on classics!” he said.
“They do this and they do that and then it is like, ‘Hey, Street Profits, you have a ten-man tag with all the guys you idolized growing up!’,” he explained. “I mean, God dang! All right! It is crazy to think about and for us it is something that is extremely exciting to go out there and out on a banger! Especially with being in the ring who have put on countless bangers in the past!”
