ORIGINAL (7/30/20, 5:13 p.m. ET): Tamar Braxton confirmed that she tried to “end” her life, and is now on a “path to healing.” Tamar was previously found unresponsive in her hotel room and rushed to the hospital on July 16, and the VH1 star broke her silence on the suicide attempt in an Instagram post shared on July 30.
“Over the past 11 years there were promises made to protect and portray my story, with the authenticity and honesty I gave. I was betrayed, taken advantage of, overworked, and underpaid. I wrote a letter over 2 months ago asking to be freed from what I believed was excessive and unfair. I explained in personal detail the demise I was experiencing. My cry for help went totally ignored. However the demands persisted. It was my spirit, and my soul that was tainted the most,” Tamar explained at one point in her message, and added elsewhere, “Mental illness is real.” Then, she later wrote, “God’s grace and his mercy on my attempt to end my pain and my life that I am here to utilize my voice.” You can read Tamar’s full statement, here.
