Is Nick Cannon, 35, the type of man to bring home to momma? TLC’s Chilli, 45, seems to think so, but instead, she brought him to ROKU in West Hollywood to meet her mom. Chilli arrived at the Asian restaurant on Aug. 9 with her mother, Ava, where she requested a “relatively exclusive” table, according to People. The two sat down, and as scheduled, Nick arrived precisely 15 minutes later to make a VERY important first impression. They say mother knows best, so what if Ava didn’t like Nick? Could that be the end of their relationship? Luckily, Nick was able to charm his way into Ava’s heart.
“Nick was super engaged with Chilli and her mom and very animated,” a source confirms to People. “They were laughing and giggling and seemed to be telling lots of jokes.” Can’t say we’re surprised. Nick has always had a certain lovable swagger about him, and his gig at America’s Got Talent makes good practice. Every week, the host mingles with thousands of contestants backstage before performing in front of Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Mel B, and the bullying Simon Cowell.
The first time we noticed Nick and the “Waterfalls” singer were an item was precisely on July 13. Chilli, whose real name is Rozonda Thomas, was performing at WDKX’s Summerfest Concert in Rochester, NY that day — and Nick was her date! Up to this point, Nick was trying to play it cool, saying, “I would be so lucky to be able to be called ‘dating’ her. This is all new to me. I’m not ready for titles and all that stuff,” — but that was before Ava entered the picture. Now it seems like they’re one big happy family. Before Chilli came along, Nick was married to Mariah Carey for seven years, but then he decided he didn’t want “No Scrubs,” and divorced her in 2015. We can’t wait to see how his low key romance with Chilli will progress!
HollywoodLifers, don’t you think Nick and Chilli make a cute couple?
