Rivals 3 featured a brand new twist we’ve never seen on The Challenge before: While the three final teams were competing against each other, the members of each pair were also in a battle, as they competed for individual points. The teammate with the most points in the end got to decide if they would take all the money or split it with their partner, and Johnny Bananas made the cunning move to screw Sarah over after their big win.
“It’s a coward move,” Cheyenne, who came in 3rd place with her partner, Devin, told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “It’s a d*** move. He wouldn’t have gotten to that final without Sarah.”
Remember, Sarah and Johnny were rivals to begin with because she betrayed him by throwing him into an elimination during Battle of the Exes II, and even though they made up throughout the season of Rivals 3, it didn’t stop Johnny from making a big move of his own.
“It’s not the f***ing same,” Devin explained to us. “It’s not even the same game. It’s not even close.” Well, he’s right: Sarah threw Johnny under the bus when they were on opposing teams, and Bananas still had the opportunity to win the elimination and come back to the game. But Johnny’s move came after Sarah helped him dominate a really difficult season and final challenge, and it left her with no chance to defend herself.
Bananas’ cousin, Vince, and his partner, Jenna, came in 2nd place, and like Cheyenne and Devin, Vince, who scored more points, opted to split the money. “I see both sides,” Jenna admitted to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Bananas said he’s not sure how much longer he’s going to do this anymore and he needs to make a living outside of the house, so it’s understandable. But it’s still f***ed up that he took all of it.”
All in all, it was a crazy finale and REALLY hard to watch — and it might just set Johnny and Sarah up for another go as partners if Rivals 4 ever happens!
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Johnny’s decision to take Sarah’s money? Do you agree with Devin and Cheyenne?
