Lainie Kazan: ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ Mom Hospitalized After Nasty Car Crash

This is so scary! ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ star, Lainie Kazan was raced to the hospital after a terrifying car crash in LA. It turns out she drifted into oncoming traffic and that’s when she hit another car head-on!

Lainie Kazan is lucky to be alive. Lainie, who played Maria Portokalos in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, was taken to the hospital after a terrible car wreck on April 9 in the Valley and it turns out Lainie was conscious when police arrived to the scene.

The actress reportedly drove into oncoming traffic and that’s when her Lincoln SUV struck another car. It ironically happened in front of a Greek restaurant. The emergency vehicles arrived and found Lainie and immediately put her into a neck brace. The accident is still under investigation, according to TMZ. Lainie has had several big roles, including Aunt Frieda on the hit sitcom The Nanny, The Paper Chase, and Touched By An Angel and she also joined the cast of Desperate Housewives on season seven.

Laine has been in the spotlight recently with the debut of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, the sequel to her 2002 hit! We had been waiting nearly 14 years for the sequel and it was just as funny as the first. It’s about Toula Portakalos Miller [Nia Vardalos]. But the film is really about Maria having the wedding she always wanted with Gus! He asks to remarry her and it’s all about the family coming together to make this the best wedding ever! When it comes to Lainie’s personal life, she married Peter Daniels in 1971 and he tragically died in 1989 of lung cancer. Together they had one daughter, Jennifer.

HollywoodLifers, we are sending our prayers to Lainie’s family.
