The end is nigh, and as one of Rick’s group nears a violent encounter with super villain Negan’s bat, Lucille, tensions are running high inside Alexandria. So, what’s the best way to blow off a little steam? By shacking up with your girl, obviously!
In this preview from the upcoming March 27 episode, which is the penultimate before the season finale, Rick and Michonne seem carefree as they lay naked in each other’s arms. Still in bed as the sun rises, Michonne reaches for an apple she must have left at her bedside, then shares it with Rick as they barely budge out of their cuddle pose.
Michonne reveals that Maggie — aka the new Deanna — has changed up some shifts around town, so she has to get going. Rick is anti-this idea, and instead tries to persuade Michonne into staying in bed a little longer by hovering over her naked body and leaving kisses down her torso. Even though Michonne is really, really into Rick’s gesture… she admits she doesn’t want to piss off a pregnant woman. Fair point, Michonne!
However, this clip is rather interesting because we can only assume it’s taken place after Carol decided to sneak away in the middle of the night. As you might remember, at the end of the March 13 episode, Tobin discovers a note from Carol explaining why she had to leave. So, can we safely agree that Richonne’s early morning love-fest happens to be occurring at the same time Tobin discovers Carol’s note? It’s possible.
In another preview that aired EXCLUSIVELY on Talking Dead, we get a glimpse at what life outside of Alexandria is like for Carol. And by glimpse, I mean if you blink you will miss it, because it’s a super short clip that just barely shows you anything.
This is how the clip goes: first you see a pool of blood on the asphalt, followed by what looks like a makeshift spear that is covered in blood and dripping down to create the pool we just saw. You can’t see who it’s been shoved through, but you can see that it’s coming from the inside of a car.
Then you see Carol’s rosary beads lying on another piece of asphalt along with pieces of broken glass. You can hear the sound of a walker, a ringing bell, and then a man screaming before a gunshot goes off. Then silence. The last thing the clip shows is another pool of blood next to the car. It’s unclear if it’s the same pool from the spear, or another one caused by the gunshot. Either way, the rosary tells us that Carol is involved somehow. Yikes.
