After her devastating loss to Holly Holm, 34, Ronda Rousey, 29, was looking forward to their rematch and the chance to restore her champion status. With Holly’s loss to Miesha Tate, 29, those hopes are dashed, and Ronda’s fuming! She wanted revenge, and she wanted it badly, according to a source who spoke to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY! So what’s she supposed to do now?
“Hearing that Holly Holm lost was a blow to Ronda’s ego and pocket book,” the source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Ronda wanted to be the one to provide Holly with her first loss and get revenge at the same time. Now Ronda has to hear from all the haters that she lost to someone who can’t even successfully defend their championship in their first fight as champion.
“The only thing making Ronda happy is that she has dominated Miesha Tate in the past and anticipates to do the same in the future,” the source continued. “Ronda feels she is the number one contender, and anticipates fighting Miesha and winning again, but she is disappointed that she will never have the huge payday with Holly anymore; the fight doesn’t have that same aura and cache.”
Ronda was deeply affected by her loss to Holly, confessing on Ellen that she had suicidal thoughts after their match. She told TMZ back in January 2016 that she would “of course” be facing off with Holly again. But this may be a blessing in disguise. As much as Ronda wants her revenge, she may not be mentally ready for another fight against Holly, HollywoodLife.com previously told you EXCLUSIVELY. She’s “trying to get her confidence back.”
