When it comes to shocking royal haircuts, it’s typically Kate Middleton‘s, 34, luscious locks that set the Internet ablaze. But all of that changed on Jan. 10 when Prince William, 33, debuted his first major haircut in years! The Duke was spotted rocking a significantly shorter new ‘do that not only gave him a slightly more rugged look, but also seemed to blend in a little bit more with his already noticeably receding hairline. Are you a fan?
Prince William stepped out with his family at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate on Jan. 10 when it became clear that he had finally embraced his follicly challenged mane with a much shorter, tightly cropped hairdo. The prince, whose hair has come under some unfortunate scrutiny over the years, looked as handsome as ever with the new cut, which appeared significantly shorter on the sides and shaven on top.
While not everyone may have been a fan of Will’s “dad ‘do,” we for one think he looks incredibly dapper and are happy to see that he’s finally decided to tackle his thinning hair problem head-on (no pun intended). The trimmed down locks do a much better job of blending into his receding hairline and will likely be that much easier to manage when it comes time to finally shave his head.
As for who created the buzzed-about new look, the likely suspects are Kate’s go-to stylists Amanda Cook Tucker and Richard Ward, who recently gave the Duchess her royal lob. The former has a long-standing hair history with Kate, and famously visited the royal mom in the hospital after the births of both Prince George and Princess Charlotte to ensure that her hair was photo-ready. Amanda’s also been cutting William and Prince Harry‘s hair since they were kids, and was actually first introduced to Kate by the Duke himself. It’s likely that Amanda made a special trip to Norfolk to style Kate’s hair for her birthday weekend on Jan. 9 and while she was there clipped William’s locks into the sleek style we see today.
