What better way to start the holiday season than with a funeral? Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) put their mother to rest this week, before heading on a hunt for Julian — but naturally, they met some angry elves along the way: Julian’s little helpers. And well, “Let It Go,” took on a whole new meaning.
After a 2-1 fight turned into a 2-5 throw down, Stefan and Damon somehow escaped, and while Damon begged Stefan to just let it go, he couldn’t do it — so they went their separate ways. Stefan enlisted the help of Valerie, who took Mary Louis hostage. Even though they had split up, when Nora found out about ML, she felt it right to take down Bonnie (Kat Graham). Once Julian heard about Mary, he went after Damon. And with that, Damon was stabbed by the sword that brought him to hell. Stefan tried to help — and was then stabbed by Nora by that same sword, in front of Caroline. So they both would be living in their personal hells for a while. Happy Holidays!
As for Caroline, she may be an A+ pregnancy student, but her Vamp senses and cravings were way up — so much that she almost killed Alaric for his blood. She found her peace in quite the warm way: going to her mom’s grave to visit because it would be her first Christmas without her. (Seriously, grab your tissues.)
A little quick side note before the three-year jump, this week also focused on the friendship growing between Bonnie and Nora and I can’t be the only one here who saw a little spark when Nora called her “beautiful.” Hey, we know that Kat Graham was all for it, so maybe after Bonnie forgives her for putting her out, that could happen?
Now to this weeks time jump: three years into the future — you know, when Caroline’s engaged to Alaric and almost getting murdered on live TV — Stefan and Valerie are together, but he does leave Chicago to go save her. So, until January (Fridays, that is).
