Even though Kylie was sick and had a wardrobe malfunction, she pushed through and got dolled up for her dad. Once inside Carnegie Hall, Kylie posted a number of Snapchat videos — one while Ellie Goulding was performing and another backstage with Caitlyn. They’re super sweet moments, which you can watch below!
Caitlyn, who is one of the most talked about women in the world, was honored at the ceremony in Manhattan, alongside fellow honorees like actress Reese Witherspoon, dancer Misty Copeland and designer Victoria Beckham. Also honored during the 25th anniversary of the awards were five women affected by the South Carolina church massacre and later dubbed “The Peacemakers of Charleston,” entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes, Planned Parenthoood’s Cecile Richards and the U.S. women’s soccer team.
And while Caitlyn isn’t the first trangender woman to be a Glamour Woman of the Year — Laverne Cox was honored last year — her inclusion in the ceremony caused a bit of controversy. But Cindi Leive, Glamour‘s editor-in-chief, told The Associated Press that criticism of Caitlyn being honored “certainly gives you an appreciation for the hostility to the trans community that still exists out there.”
If you ask us, Caitlyn definitely deserved the honor and we’re glad Kylie was on hand to show her support! What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers?
