Khloe Kardashian: You’re A Great Role Model For Taking Wedding Vows Seriously

Khloe Kardashian, when you vowed at the marriage altar to love your husband, Lamar Odom, in sickness and in health, you took those words incredibly to heart. That shows tremendous character that should be emulated.

Khloe Kardashian, your estranged husband Lamar Odom is a very lucky man. There are very few wives who were just one judge’s signature away from a divorce who would have run to their almost ex-husbands’ sides, like you did. When Lamar was found unconscious and near death, you didn’t hesitate for an instant to jet to his side, and you’ve stayed there in two different hospitals now — almost nonstop — for three weeks.

You’ve just spoken out in your first interview since Lamar’s near tragedy, and you’ve made it very clear in People magazine that you “love Lamar.” You also said, “I’ll always be there for him like I promised.” “Like I promised” is the key phrase here. You’re talking about your marriage vows. In an age where 40-50% of marriages end in divorce, that was something that you worked your utmost to avoid.

You may have gotten engaged to Lamar after only knowing him for nine days and married him just a month later, but you took your commitment completely seriously. It seems like every week a Hollywood couple announces that they have split, but you tried so hard to not allow that to happen despite the demons that took hold of Lamar, 35. “When I got married, I believed every vow that I took,” you explained. “I don’t believe love is fickle.”

No, it certainly isn’t for you. Despite Lamar’s depression over being let go from the Lakers, the rumors of his infidelity and then his subsequent substance abuse, you continued to stay in your marriage and to try and protect him. “I wanted to protect Lamar. I know how badly he wanted and needed this family [the Kardashians]. I didn’t want people to judge him or blame him. And I didn’t want to feel like I was giving up on him,” she said.

Well, Khloe, 31, no one would ever accuse you of giving up on Lamar or your marriage. You called off your divorce even though both you and Lamar had signed the papers, and you’ve done this completely unselfishly. “For medical decisions and a ton of other things, it’s just smarted that it’s put on hold,” you told the magazine. Your chief concern as the wife you had vowed to be is to support him now, “every step of the way”, on his long road to recovery. Khloe, many, many wives or husbands who were about to divorce would never have stepped up like this. You are an inspiration and a true example of committed “married love.” Everyone is rooting, like you are, for Lamar’s full recovery.
